Sovereign wealth funds by country

Which countries have a sovereign wealth fund? On our count, 108 countries and territories have at least one entity on our list. Many have more than one.

The countries with the most entities are the United States (31, of which 29 are state-level funds), the United Arab Emirates (15, spread across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and the federal level) and Canada (12). Across the six Gulf Cooperation Council states there are 28.

A country count depends on what you include. A country may have a core national fund, a separate stabilisation fund, a state holding company and a development investor, all at once. Some countries appear only because a fund is being set up, such as Kenya, whose Sovereign Wealth Fund Act commenced on 24 July 2026.

Each country page lists every entity we track there, with its tier and status, and explains in a sentence or two how the country's funds relate to each other. Pick a country below, or see the full list.
